Iranian Revolution Anniversary Function in New Delhi Called Off

NEW DELHI The Iranian Embassy here Thursday called off the function celebrating the anniversary of the victory of Islamic Revolution of Iran on February 12, 2001 following the recent earthquake which was occurred in the western State of Gujarat.
According to the press release of the Iranian Embassy received here, the embassy this year in New Delhi will not hold any function on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
''The painful earthquake tragedy in the State of Gujarat has been a matter of great distress for us and, in the present circumstances, with a view to express sympathy with the survivors of this tragedy and all the people of India and to share the sorrow of this calamity, the function which was scheduled to be held on February 12, 2001 at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi, is being hereby canceled,'' said the release.
